Here in the pro shop, we’re always keen to start the new year with a bang, and what we have to reveal to you today is very special.
Packed with exciting new tech and looking fantastic from top to bottom, we’re proud to be today giving you a look at the brand new OPTM drivers from Cobra! Without further ado, we’re going to jump right into how fantastic this golf club looks, from the grip to the head.
Stunning from every angle
When you first set eyes on the new OPTM drivers, you’ll appreciate the efforts that Cobra has put into making a club that looks great all over. The head is predominantly black with each model in the range being slightly colour-coded. The X and Max-D drivers have highlights of blue and red on the sole respectively while the Max-K and LS clubs have more subtle black and silver profiles.
The face of each club is particularly intricate with horizontal lines stretching from the heel and toe sections of the club, giving you a clear indication of where the sweet spot is and where to align your ball.
You’ll find the Cobra brand logo in the very center of the sole, and you’ll find a QR code on the hosel of each model. This leads to a website where we’ll be able to fine-tune your setup to one of the FutureFit33 hosels 33 unique settings. When you come in for a custom fitting, we’ll find your perfect setting.
So it looks great and is highly customisable, it feels great in your hands and simple feels fast. That’s a lot of positives, but what makes them different compared to all the other cubs out there? We’ll now take a dive into the tech that makes this club tick.
The Cobra OPTM drivers
This driver range certainly looks the part and has the tech to back up its appeal. We’ve just mentioned how each club has the FutureFit33 hosel that allows you to adjust loft and lie to one of 33 different settings.
Each club in the range has a large head profile that gives you a confidence boost when you’re standing over the ball. Each model also benefits from a unique weighting system. The LS and X clubs for example have adjustable weight ports for fade/draw workability while the Max-K and Max-D have a fixed weight that provides a forgiving draw bias.
The OPTM X serves as the versatile driver in the range. It has a symmetrical, rounded head shape that sits square and confident at address. It utilizes a dual-port weighting system that allows players to toggle between a stable, forgiving back-weight setting or an accuracy-focused toe setting. This model strikes a perfect balance between high-end ball speed and consistent forgiveness for the broadest range of handicaps.
Designed for high-speed players, the OPTM LS model is compact and has a slightly triangular tour shape and low-spin profile. This club has been engineered to provide a penetrating ball flight and maximum shot-shaping control. The 11g, 7g, and 3g weight configuration allows golfers to fine-tune their launch and spin characteristics to an elite level.
Built for ultimate stability, the OTPM Max-K features a single 11g weight fixed deep in the rear to achieve a very high-MOI construction for excellent accuracy. WIth an oversized 460cc footprint aesthetic, this club provides a massive, confidence-inspiring profile that resists twisting on off-center hits. This is the most forgiving driver in the lineup, specifically engineered to maximize carry distance and keep the ball on the fairway.
The OPTM Max-D is the dedicated forgiving draw-biased model. This driver Utilizes a fixed 11g heel weight to help golfers square the face and eliminate slicing the ball. Despite its internal draw weighting, it uses Smartpad technology to ensure the driver looks visually square at address rather than closed or hooked.
